Joan
Joan Badger joined the PEAL staff in July of 2007 as the Family to Family Healthcare Information Coordinator.   She resides on a farm in Wampum, PA with her husband Bruce, a retired teacher and now, a full-time farmer.  She has personal experience with the needs of children with special health care needs as her daughter, Josie, a graduate student at the University of Pittsburgh, is 24 years old with complex health care needs.

Joan has 36 years of classroom experience as a Family and Consumer Science Teacher in the Ellwood City Area School District.  She is a 4-H leader, a member of the Lawrence County Development Committee and an adult ally of the Pennsylvania Youth Leadership Network.  Joan serves on two committees at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, the Family Forum, which focuses on family centered care and the Patient Safety Oversight Committee. She has been a member of the Every Child Deserves a Home and Family Coalition since its inception in 2003.
