Ceil Belasco with brother Mike and son Eddie
Ceil
Ceil Belasco became the Director of Training at the PEAL Center in September, 2007. She previously served as the PEAL Board President since the Center opened.  She and her husband are the proud parents of four incredibly talented adults. Her long history of advocacy on behalf of people with disabilities stems from her life experiences  with her brother and her son, both now adults living with disabilities. She believes in the power of possibilities and working to provide supports needed for all people to be full members of their schools and communities.  She joins the PEAL Center after 36 years in Special Education with the Pittsburgh Public Schools. Her professional experiences there include classroom teacher, the first district Inclusion Facilitator and Instructional Coordinator for a transition program for young adults, aged 18-21.   She has received grants and awards for her work on behalf of students with disabilities.  In 2004, she was inducted in the Duquesne University Century Club of Distinguished Alumni. That same year, Ceil was named one of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette Top 48 Educators Making a Difference. Past awards include the 1991 ARC Allegheny Awards of Excellence Education Award and the PA Local Task Force on the Right to Education Teacher of the Year. Ceil earned both a BS and MS Ed at Duquesne University.
