Tiny Fingers to Tiny Voices

Sign language for parents and young children is a free course sponsored by the PEAL Center.  The class is taught by Kimberly S. Simon for parents, infants, toddlers, and young children, birth to kindergarten, who would like to use another avenue to improve their communication skills. Children must be accompanied by their parent/caregiver. Additional family members, teachers, or therapists are welcome to attend. This sign language class is intended for all children, regardless of their disability label. Dress comfortably since this is a "hands on" class!  Classes will be held in Pittsburgh, Freeport, Homestead, Zelienople and Aliquippa.  To register please go to www.pealcenter.org or call 412-281-4404 or toll free 866-950-1040.

Lake of Dreams - Fun Fish program for Special Needs kids
We are planning our annual Fun Fishing Program for special needs kids for this summer.  The date has been set and is Saturday, July 24th, starting at 10 am and lasting until 4 pm.  The program is being held at a private lake in Eighty Four (North Strabane), PA.  It’s a large (over six acres) lake.  There will be fishing, boat rides for the kids, and possibly even horseback rides for the kids. You are free to bring whatever fishing equipment you want.  But YOU DON’T NEED ANYTHING.  We will supply fishing poles, bait, life jackets, and will have plenty of expert fisherman to help the kids.  We will also be providing lunch, and refreshments.  You and your entire family are invited, but the focus will be on your special needs children.  There is NO COST for the event. If you RSVP, please commit to coming.  This event requires a significant amount of work for the host.  And since there is no fee, any extra food is wasted. Tim Burns-tburns@thenextthing.com
