The Family to Family Health Information Center at the PEAL Center provides individual information and technical assistance to families for children with special health care needs (CSHCN) across the entire state of Pennsylvania. By definition, all children with disabilities are considered to have a special health care need. F2F offers workshops on health information, including transition to adult life, which will help parents find the resources that their children need. In addition, the Parent Leadership Institute helps parent leaders of Pennsylvania increase their effectiveness on boards, committees and in the community.
The four main goals for the project coincide with MCHB Goals for CSHCN: 1. Families participate as full partners in decision making at all levels. 2. Services for CSHCN and families will be organized in ways that families can use them easily. 3. Families will have adequate private or public healthcare insurance. 4. Youth transition to adult health care, work and independence.
