The PEAL Center is recruiting Board Members. We could use your help.

The Parent Education & Advocacy Leadership (PEAL) Center was started by parent advocates in Western Pennsylvania in 2005 and grew statewide by 2015. PEAL’s mission is to educate and empower families to ensure that children, youth and young adults with disabilities and special health care needs lead rich, active lives as full members of their schools and communities.

That means inclusion — for everyone.

Since the beginning, PEAL has worked to reach under-represented and marginalized communities in Pennsylvania, and we are getting results — but we have a lot more work to do.

We believe that the best way to reach all families, including families of color and those who are encountering bias and discrimination because of disability, poverty, cultural background, geography and other barriers is to ensure that our leadership is built of people who are leaders and emerging leaders in the communities where all families live, work, go to school and play.

Our first priority for PEAL’s board is that it is comprised of parents of children with disabilities and people with disabilities and the remainder is open to a variety of people with a heart for the work that can support our efforts in many ways. Your passion for inclusion and your expertise and outreach to people who need our support in any community is definitely something we are looking for. In addition, we are also trying to identify people with expertise in marketing and public relations, attorneys, fundraisers and others who can help us grow our mission.

If you have an interest in applying for the PEAL Board, please contact us: info@pealcenter.org

We would be happy to talk with you further and answer any questions you may have.
